Quarter one report shows water loss trends flowing in the right direction

Olds council received some positive news during last week’s meeting from the Town’s Infrastructure Services first quarter report.

Recent progress from the Operations and Planning and Development activities showed water loss costs down more than 45 per cent in the first two months of the year as compared to 2025, with similar trends in wastewater inflow and infiltration (I & I). Mayor Dan Daley is pleased to see efforts for about the last four years on water loss costs, and wastewater I & I finally showing some real improvement.

With spring in full swing, Mayor Daley encourages residents to use the “Report A Problem” form on the Town of Olds website if they see any water leaks or water main breaks. He says “that goes directly to the directors and managers that are responsible for those areas. So if it is public works, it will go to the public works director. If it is community, then it will go to the community director. Yeah, that is the best way to get it and then we can track it, have work orders made and we’ll make sure that it gets addressed.”
