This is National Access-Ability Week and one of the highlights of it is Red Shirt Day.
Everyone is encouraged to wear red today (June 3rd) to show solidarity with individuals living with disabilities and make pledges to promote inclusivity.
Cindy Tippe with the Olds & District Special Family Voices Council points out that they will be hosting a special event this afternoon from noon until 3pm at the Olds Legion. She says “we have lunch specials at noon at the legion. The program starts at 1 o’clock and there is live entertainment shortly thereafter, and we also have a mini trade show.”
She adds, Red Shirt Day is an important event for Special Family Voices because they are all about enriching the lives of people with special needs. Find out more about the local organization online at specialfamilyvoices.ca. National Access-Ability Week stretches from May 31-June 6.
