He had a legendary voice, a hall of fame career in rodeo and now his name will be seen every time you drive along Highway 2.
Alberta’s Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors announced on Wednesday, June 10th that an overpass over the QE2 in Innisfail will now be known as the Jack Daines Memorial Overpass.
Devin Dreeshen says Daines left a legacy behind as a competitor, announcer, promoter of rodeo, auctioneer, and tireless fundraiser for many groups and organizations.
Jack founded the Daines Ranch Pro Rodeo in the 1960s, and was inducted into both the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame (2009) as well as the Canadian Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame (2000) before passing away at the age of 85 in 2021.
