Entrepreneur from Mountain View County up for pair of 2026 Alberta Business Awards of Distinction

The 2026 Alberta Business Awards of Distinction will be handed out on September 23rd.

Debora Rice-Salomons, President of Mountain View Events which operates the Heritage Centre at Cremona, is a finalist in the categories of female entrepreneur and small business. The other nominees for female entrepreneur are Feet Terrific Nursing Foot Care in Red Deer and Audiology in Calgary. The field in the small business category also includes Bird Creatives Ltd in Calgary, Dear Dog Treats in Fort Saskatchewan, Local Laundry in Calgary and PASS Electric Inc. in Red Deer.

She points out that the Cremona/Water Valley Chamber of Commerce nominated her for the awards. Rice-Salomons says “these awards have been going on for over 30 years, the Alberta Chamber does a great job. As a small business, making the finals of this type of thing it really makes us proud because all the hard work, as you know small business people, the challenges that you face – this really makes it worthwhile.”

Rice-Salomons says she will be going to Leduc later this month for the awards night along with a large contingent from this area to cheer her on including Mountain View County’s Reeve, and representatives from the local Chamber of Commerce as well as the Women in Business Awards committee. She says “this is important and I encourage people to nominate their local businesses. Small Business Week is coming up and there are small business awards in all of our communities. So again, take the time to nominate and then, of course, congratulate these small businesses. Recognize them for the hard work and everything they do in the community.”
