Alberta RCMP urge safe, sober driving ahead of holiday season

With holiday celebrations underway, Alberta RCMP are reminding drivers to stay safe and never drive impaired by drugs or alcohol.

As part of National Safe Driving Week, police are also highlighting the risks of distracted driving and urging motorists to stay focused on the road.

On December 6th, the RCMP will take part in National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day, with check stops and traffic initiatives aimed at removing impaired drivers.

Officers remind Albertans that Mandatory Alcohol Screening may be used at any stop, and to always plan a safe ride home—whether that’s a taxi, rideshare, designated driver or staying the night.

GDL drivers must follow zero-tolerance rules, and anyone who suspects impaired driving should call 911.
