RCMP respond to unrelated break and enters at gas plant in Red Deer County

A total of five people were arrested following a pair of recent break and enters, according to Three Hills RCMP.

The same gas plant in Red Deer County was victimized twice on Saturday, June 6th.

The first one resulted in RCMP being called just after 3:20am when the security company saw a man and a woman on video surveillance in the gated compound. Police located a truck that had broken down on the side of the road after the suspects had stolen fuel and fled. Two residents of Mirror, Alberta were arrested and a search of the vehicle yielded contraband tobacco, illicit cannabis, magic mushrooms, plus break-in tools.

A 30-year old woman and a 46-year old man charges for break and enter, possession of break-in instruments, disguise with intent, mischief – damage to property, possession of a controlled substance, possession of illicit cannabis, trespassing, and possession of cigarettes/tobacco not marked for tax-paid sale. The woman was also charged with failure to comply with a release order. They have been remanded into custody and are set to appear in Didsbury court on June 8th.

The second incident at the gas plant followed that afternoon at about 1:20. This time two men were spotted on video surveillance by the security company. Once again fuel was stolen and police say a truck with a stolen license plate attached was trailed until it came to a stop in an industrial area in Red Deer. The men were arrested and break-in tools were found inside of the vehicle, which was determined to be stolen. Mounties say a woman who lied about her identity and had a warrant out for her arrest was also apprehended.

A 30-year old man from Stettler faces charges of break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break-in instruments and failure to comply with a release order.

A 29-year old man from Stettler faces charges of break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, driving while prohibited, possession of break-in instruments, and disguise with intent.

A 23-year old woman from Airdrie faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime, and obstructing a peace officer. She is slated to be in Red Deer court on June 8th.

Both of the Stettler residents have upcoming court dates on June 9th in Red Deer.

Three Hills RCMP are passing along thanks to Zedcor Security for “their excellent response to the break and enters at the gas plant” and police also point out that the security system installed at the site allowed them to “investigate the matter fully and coordinate an effective response.”
