Cochrane RCMP investigation into alleged online child luring leads to arrest at Calgary residence

A 29-year-old Calgary man faces charges following a Cochrane RCMP investigation.

Mounties say it began in May of this year when a concerned parent reported that their child was sharing intimate images with an unknown person online.

Police were able to search the child’s devices to get the phone number and social media accounts being used by the suspect.

The suspect was arrested after a search warrant was executed at a Calgary residence on July 8th and the list of charges includes luring a child and possession of child sexual abuse material.

After being held in custody, the accused is slated to appear in Provincial Court in Calgary on July 10th.

Anyone with information about child exploitation offences is encouraged to contact their local RCMP detachment or CRIMESTOPPERS.
