Battle with the Broncos goes tonight at the Sportsplex

In what has become a holiday tradition in Olds, the 3rd annual Battle with the Broncos brings local emergency services together for a friendly showdown at the Sportsplex tonight.

The Olds Fire Department and RCMP will team up with members of the Olds College Broncos Women’s Hockey team to raise money for the Olds Christmas Angels.

It’ll be a busy day for emergency services, with the annual Boot Drive also taking place today, with all funds going to the Christmas Angels.

Constable Mitch Price with the Olds RCMP says anyone who stops by to make a donation during the Boot Drive will receive a ticket to tonight’s game.

“The boot drive that the Olds Fire puts on every year—we’re going to run it in conjunction with our game this year. With Police and Fire both being involved in the boot drive and the hockey game, we figured we would just partner them up. The boot drive will run on December 3rd during the day. Any donations received will get a separate ticket, which will be entered into a draw at the game that night.”

Admission is free, with donations to the Students’ Association of Olds College Food Bank encouraged.

Along with the game, fans can look forward to door prizes, a Shoot-to-Win for $10,000, three major raffle prizes, and a 50/50 draw.

Constable Price says they’re hoping for a big crowd at the Sportsplex.

“I’m hoping to see everyone. Olds Minor Hockey is a big part of what we’re doing—they’ll skate in the first intermission—and the Broncos’ partnership with the female side of Minor Hockey will help a lot. I’m hoping this is an event that brings the whole community together before Christmas.”

The 3rd annual Battle with the Broncos goes tonight at 7 o’clock at the Olds Sportsplex.
