Broncos athletes benefit from very successful event featuring Gord Bamford

There was no need to “Blame It On That Red Dress” because the Broncos Bash with Bamford turned out to be a big hit.

Rachel Cunningham, Manager of Broncos Athletics, says there was an incredible turnout from the Olds community, the Olds College campus, and surrounding communities. According to Cunningham, about 800 people came through the door to for the all ages family friendly show with a concert from country singer Gord Bamford on Saturday, October 25th. She says “our athletes volunteered. They just were top notch. The team at ORE was amazing to work with, Tammy and her team. Obviously, Gord and his team they were incredible. I mean such wonderful hosts and he was just so gracious in doing this type of event for us. So we were incredibly excited to have raised about $10,000 for athlete’s scholarships.” Cunningham points out that the Olds College rodeo that was attached to the same day as the Bamford Bash event was sold out as well.

Meanwhile, Olds College will have a Women’s Hockey Day on January 17th at the Sportsplex. Cunningham notes the Junior Broncos Female Programs are pairing with the Broncos women’s hockey team and the day will feature all of the female hockey programs in Olds along with OC’s ACAC team. She says “I think it has been an absolutely amazing partnership. It is really special to see the Junior Broncos jerseys at our games around Alberta, they travel on social media. I think it also just gives them a platform to really look at a pathway for sports and what their sporting career and outings can really come to, which is a very exciting thing for us as Broncos.”
