Olds RCMP and SCAN investigation leads to arrest of repeat offender.

An Olds resident, who is well known to police, has been remanded into custody and has an upcoming court date in Didsbury.

Mounties say the Olds RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), general duty members, along with the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) team recognized a man who was operating a vehicle on February 2nd.

According to police, the suspect did not stop for officers and took off at a high rate of speed before eventually being located on February 3rd.

A 51-year-old man faces charges including flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation while prohibited, possession of property obtained by crime. His court appearance is slated for February 23rd.

Olds RCMP point out that if you have any information regarding criminal activity in your neighbourhood you can contact your local RCMP detachment or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
