Talking turkey about safe driving habits: #OperationImpact2025 running during Thanksgiving weekend

#OperationImpact2025 will see the Alberta RCMP out on the province’s roadways this Thanksgiving long weekend as part of the annual safety campaign.

While around many dinner tables during holiday meals there will be conversations about what is the best side dish, the initiative from the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police will be reaching for its theme – “safety is in MY hands” – instead of for another scoop of stuffing with buttered green peas.

Motorists are reminded to avoid driving while they are impaired, fatigued, or distracted. Additionally, buckling up and avoiding taking unnecessary risks are also encouraged.

Anyone who witnesses any dangerous or suspected impaired driving this Thanksgiving is asked to please call 911.

Sergeant Darrin Turnbull with Alberta RCMP Traffic says “over the past few months, we have seen multiple collisions resulting in fatalities. We are thankful to all road users doing their part to make responsible and safe driving choices this holiday long weekend.”
