Following the recent purchase of approximately 64 acres of land by the Town of Olds, council is updating the Cornerstone Area Structure Plan (ASP).
Mayor Dan Daley notes that the Town is looking at moving forward with developing that land into residential and commercial space. He says “it is expanding our Town, making available more housing and rental properties that are still needed within our community. Then also it would increase our tax base as well, of course, because as soon as you start developing land and putting residences and apartment buildings and so forth on the land, it is also susceptible for our tax base.”
At this week’s meeting, council gave first reading to the proposed update of the Cornerstone ASP. A public hearing about it has been set for Tuesday, October 13th at 1pm in the council chambers.
