Wildfire west of Sundre classified as “being held,” fire authorities continue to monitor

The wildfire in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area, west of Sundre, is now classified as “being held” after an evening of containment efforts on Friday night.

The blaze is currently sitting at around 28 hectares in size, and given current weather conditions, is not expected to grow beyond its existing boundaries.

Officials say while the fire remains active, containment efforts have been effective, and the situation is considered “stable.”
