Be a class act by adopting a student ahead of Back 2 School BBQ Bash on August 25

A number of different local organizations are teaming up to help make sure all students have the supplies they need when they head back to school this fall.

Heather Dixon with the Community Connection Centre in Olds points out that if you need support, you can apply to have free school supplies. Dixon says “so by adopting a student, somebody could come into our Centre and we’ll give them the school supply list for that teacher’s class in whatever school the child is attending in Olds – and then they can shop for it and bring it back to us.”

On the flip side of that, Dixon adds, to make that happen they need businesses or individuals in Town to adopt-a-student.

Contact the Community Connection Centre for more details or go online here. Dixon says the school supplies will be handed out to those who have registered during a Back 2 School BBQ Bash at the Community Lending Shelf on August 25th.

The joint effort for this initiative involves YES! (Youth Empowerment and Support) Program from Chinook’s Edge School Division, the Community Lending Shelf, BGC of Olds and Area, the Olds Christmas Angels Society, the local Staples store, the United Way, and the Community Connection Centre.
