Innisfail Food Bank receives January boost from 3rd annual Battle of the Badges

The community gathered at the Twin Arenas to support the Innisfail Food Bank on Friday, January 3rd.
Courtney Malone with the Innisfail RCMP is one of the organizers of the 3rd annual Battle of the Badges. Malone says they had an amazing turn out and it looked like they had more people show up than last year to watch the charity hockey game between the Innisfail Fire Department and the Innisfail RCMP.
According to Malone, it was freezing cold and the roads were terrible so they are happy everyone came out to help raise $4,410 dollars for the Food Bank and 1,000 pounds of food. She notes it is a little less than what they have brought in in the past, but it is still an amazing amount and the community came out and gave hard. Malone says they are happy to donate this money back because the Innisfail Food Bank definitely deserves it.
The Innisfail Fire Department defeated the Innisfail RCMP 12-7 in the charity hockey game. IFD has now won 2 of the 3 Battle of the Badges so far. Malone says they look forward to holding the 4th annual edition of the event next year.
