Generals win in Innisfail, send series back to Lacombe for Game 6

Despite outshooting the Lacombe Generals 54-35, the Innisfail Eagles were unable to close out their North Central Hockey League semi-final series on Wednesday, March 4th.

The Birds fell 5-2 to the Generals at the Twin Arenas. Goals by Chance Longjohn and Nick Bell had the home side up by a 2-1 count after one period of play but Lacombe would strike for 4 unanswered goals to cut the deficit in their best-of-seven affair to 3-2.

Innisfail will try again to eliminate the Generals when Game 6 is played on Friday, March 6th at 8pm at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex.

Meanwhile, the other semi-final series is over and the Wetaskiwin Longhorns are now waiting to see who they will face in the Vanberg Cup Finals.

The Longhorns won their semi-final series 4 games to 1 thanks to a 5-2 victory in Camrose over the Bruins on Wednesday. Zane Jones from Olds had a goal and an assist in Game 5 for Wetaskiwin and he is second in the league in playoff scoring this year with 15 points in 9 games.
