Grizzlys leading AJHL standings after picking up 3 out of 4 points over the weekend

The Olds Grizzlys are in first place overall in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

The Black & Gold top the standings with 9 points on the strength of a 4-1-1 record so far this season.

Goaltender Corbin Sanderman (2007) from Three Hills made 35 saves on Sunday, October 4th in Calgary as Olds beat the Canucks 5-1.

On Friday, October 3rd at the Sportsplex, Olds dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the visiting Lloydminster Bobcats. It was sibling rivalry night with the first AJHL meeting between a pair of brothers from Harrow, Ontario who are in their first year in the league as Assistant Coaches with Cody Leeming behind the bench for the Grizzlys and and Chris Leeming on the coaching staff for the Bobcats. Older brother Chris got the last laugh in this particular matchup as Lloydminster rallied from a 3-1 deficit to earn the victory on tremendous individual effort from defenceman and Cold Lake product Dylan Deets (2008) to end the game at 1:56 of O.T.

The Grizzlys next game is on Saturday, October 9th in Drumheller. Their next home game is on Tuesday, October 13th versus Grande Prairie and tickets are available here.

The Ranch also spoke with Chris Leeming prior to Friday’s contest.
