New category added for 2026 MVAN Women In Business Awards, nominations open now

The third annual edition of the Mountain View and Neighbours Women in Business Awards is rapidly approaching.

It takes place on March 6th at the Pomeroy Inn & Suites in Olds and it is just ahead of International Women’s Day which is on March 8th.

Volunteer Coordinator Debora Rice-Salomons points out that nominations are now open and you have until February 20th to get them in. She says “we have a new award this year. We’re really excited to let you know that we have a Rising Star Young Woman Award. Candidates can be 17 and under who turn ideas into action either through entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity, and community spirit. We are really excited about this award and it recognizes initiative, and follow through, and leadership.”

Women who live and/or work in the counties of Clearwater, Mountain View, Kneehill or the towns and villages within them are eligible for the awards this year in a total of six different categories. Rice-Salomons says “Woman in Agriculture, Woman in Energy, Woman in Business Not for Proft, Woman in Business For Profit, and of course the biggest award of all – Woman of Influence and, you know, she gets a crown. It is really the top award and we are really excited about that.”
