Didsbury’s Riedel named AJHL Rookie of the Week again, Grizzlys ready to host Grande Prairie

For the third time in the last six weeks, Ryder Riedel is the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Rookie of the Week.

The 18-year-old forward from Didsbury had three assists for the Olds Grizzlys in their two games last weekend. His current four game point streak includes 2 goals and 4 assists for 6 total points.

Riedel has contributed at least one point in 12 of the 15 games he has played this season. He is third among all rookies in the AJHL with 18 points so far this season.

He was also the AJHL’s Inter Pipeline Rookie of the Week in back-to-back weeks at the start of November.

Coming up on Wednesday, December 17th Riedel and the Grizzlys (9-17-2-1) will host the Grande Prairie Storm (15-10-0-1) at 7pm. Their final game before the holiday break will be on Saturday, December 20th at home against the Fort McMurray Oil Barons (14-9-4-1).

Olds is six points back of the Canmore Eagles (13-12-1-0) and the fourth and final South Division playoff spot.
