Colts win in Carstairs

The Mountain View Colts took to their home away form home for Wednesday night Heritage Junior Hockey League action, as they welcomed the Rocky Rams to the Carstairs Memorial Arena.

It was the Colts final home game before the HJHL’s Christmas break.

The Colts started quickly as Andrew Peiper scored just 1:33 into the game and put the home side up 1-0 at the break.

Rocky would answer back early into the 2nd as Quinn Schriver was able to sneak one by Colin McDougall, who made his 8th start for the Colts in goal. Ryder Hammer was able to convert a partial breakaway mid way through the middle frame to restore the Colts 1 goal lead.

An uneventful 3rd period would eventually lead to Ryder Hammer sealing a 3-1 victory with an empty net goal in the final minute of play, his second goal of the game. Aiden Saunders had 2 helpers on the night while Colin McDougall made 22 saves to earn his 6th win of the year.

The win improves the Colts record to 16-8 and within 2 points of Red Deer for 2nd in the Northern Division. Mountain View will travel to Servus Arena in Red Deer to battle the vipers for the 3rd time in 10 days time on Saturday night, that game will be broadcast on 96.5 The Ranch.
