Colts and Wranglers tied after opening weekend of HJHL division semi-final

The best-of-five playoff match up between the Mountain View Colts and the Sylvan Lake Wranglers is deadlocked at one game each.

As heard on 96.5 The Ranch, the Colts defeated the Wranglers 3-2 in Didsbury on Friday, February 13th in Game 1. Mountain View outshot Sylvan Lake 41-27 and jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to second period goals by Cameron Jaster and Lucas Billings. The Wranglers would fight back to tie it up but Nate Smith would score what turned out to be the game winning goal at 6:23 of the third period. Kaden Toussaint kicked out 25 shots to earn his first playoff win for the Colts and beat his former team.

Mountain View would then fall 6-2 in Sylvan Lake in Game 2 on Saturday, February 14th. This time around it was the Wranglers who would have the advantage in shots 45-25. Sylvan Lake built up a 5-0 lead with one in the first, another in the second and three more in a span of just over 6 minutes between 3:21 and 9:58 of the third period. Nate Smith would get his second of the series and Reed Toussaint would add another for Mountain View prior to the Wranglers tacking on one more to round out the scoring. The loss snapped a stretch of a dozen consecutive wins for the Colts in 2026 (11 regular season games, 1 playoff game).

The series resumes with Game 3 at the Didsbury Memorial Complex on Friday, February 20th ahead of Game 4 at the Diamond Valley Pressure Services Arena on Saturday. If necessary a fifth and deciding game would be played in Didsbury on Sunday, February 22nd at 7:30pm.
