Canada Day celebrations scheduled around Central Alberta

Canada Day celebrations are on the docket around Central Alberta.

Canada’s birthday is less than one month away, but it’s not too late to make plans. So far, festivities have been scheduled in the Towns of Innisfail, Olds, and Sundre.

Innisfail’s “Kick-Off to Canada Day Celebrations” will get the action started with a full evening of activities. On June 30th, at 5:30 p.m. at the Napoleon Sports Field, residents are invited to enjoy a series of live performances, food trucks, and beer gardens. That evening at dusk, the Town’s annual fireworks display will begin at the west side of the Innisfail Twin Arena – depending on the weather.

The following day at 8:30 a.m., the Town of Sundre’s free pancake breakfast will get the holiday started right, in the parking lot east of the Elks Building. Throughout the day, participants can enjoy free admission to Pioneer Village, and the Museum Gallery/World of Wildlife by donation. Fireworks are also scheduled to begin at dusk at the Sundre Rodeo Grounds.

Meanwhile in Olds, the Town will host several activities, entertainment options, food, and celebrations to mark the day, including a morning parade on the streets of Uptowne Olds and family events at Centinnial Park. Activities change every year but almost always include live music, guests, bouncy castles, glitter tattoos, and a vendor market.

If weather poses a significant threat, the Town will move the celebration indoors to the Olds Sportsplex.

The Town of Olds’ Canada Day fireworks are scheduled for 11:00 p.m. on June 30th at the Rotary Athletic Park.
