Town of Olds moves Canada Day festivities from Centennial Park to inside Sportsplex

The Canada Day parade in the Town of Olds goes rain or shine on July 1st at 10am.

According to Heather Dixon with the Town, the weather forecast has led them to adjust the venue for tomorrow’s festivities as they will now be held in the Sportsplex instead of in Centennial Park.

Dixon notes the bounce houses, popcorn, Canada Day cookies and more will be on the main ice surface side from 11am until 2pm on Wednesday. She says “there will be a vendor market on the main floor of the Sportsplex, as well  as the Super Dogs will be on the main floor of the Sportsplex. They will be doing tricks and there will be a ‘pat and chat’ so you can meet some of the stars. Then just directly outside of the Sportsplex there is going to be some food trucks set up for enjoyment for lunch time.”

Dixon adds, unfortunately, the movie in the park double feature slated for 6 and 8pm on Canada Day has been postponed.

The fireworks – weather permitting – will be set off at Rotary Athletic Park by the Olds Fire Department on June 30th at 11pm. For the latest updates refer to the Canada Day in Olds Facebook page.
