Final game in the den this season is billet appreciation night

The Olds Grizzlys finish up their 2024-2025 Alberta Junior Hockey League campaign this weekend.

The Black & Gold did not qualify for the playoffs, so they have just two regular season games left to go.

Kevin Watson, Manager of Business Operations, explains what fans can expect at the rink for the final home game of the season on Friday, March 14th. He says “We have our mystery mini-stick night. We’re going to give away some mini-sticks, and some t-shirts and stuff for the kids. Kids all 12 and under get in free thanks to our great Grizzlys alumni. All the Grizzlys merchandise is 25 per cent off – no tariffs – plus 25 per cent off, except for the game worn jerseys. Our 50/50 is going to be a big one as we started at over $1,000.” In addition to at the game, the 50/50 tickets are also available through a link on the Grizzlys Facebook page.

Watson adds, it is billet appreciation night. He says “they open up their houses. The kids are coming from, some from the U.S., some from all over. We had some guys from Nova Scotia this year, and B.C., Alberta. Yeah, it’s just great. Life-long friendships develop through billeting, right? We’re always looking for some billets, so for next year if people are interested, right?”

The Grizzlys (15-36-1-0) will take on the Canmore Eagles (34-12-5-2) at home on Friday and live coverage can be heard on 96.5 The Ranch at 6:55.

Canmore enters the weekend in the hunt for first place overall in the AJHL. This will be the final game for the Eagles who are one point back of the Calgary Canucks (36-12-2-2). The Canucks have two games remaining. Calgary visits Drumheller (31-18-4-0) on March 14th and then the Canucks will host Olds on Saturday at 5pm.
