High stakes for permit drivers with just one event left to earn full-time 2026 WPCA Pro Tour spot

Eight permit drivers are battling it out for four full-time spots on the 2026 WPCA Pro Tour.

Following the opening chuckwagon racing event of the season in Grande Prairie last weekend, the list of the top four permit drivers in the World Standings includes Cody Risdale from Fairview with 121 points, Dale Young from Sundre with 117.5, Dallas Dyck from Dewberry with 113, and Vern Nolan also from Dewberry with 108.

Those that are close but currently on the outside looking in are Gage Flad from Warburg with 92, and Saskatchewan’s Ryan Baptiste with 89. D.J Desutter from Grande Prairie with 57 and Phil Arcand from Alexander First Nation with 47 have a lot of ground to try and make up in Bonnyville.

The permit drivers have just one more WPCA event to try and get one of those four full-time spots for this year, so there will be plenty at stake when they head to Bonnyville for four days of racing from June 4-7th.

96.5 The Ranch will have live coverage of all of the action at 6pm from Friday through Saturday, and then closing out the show at the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship on Sunday at 2pm.
