An Elnora man has been charged with personating a peace officer.
Mounties say an investigation resulted in an older model Ford Crown Victoria being located at a residence. According to police, it appeared to have a badge on the bumper that read ‘police interceptor’.
Three Hills RCMP not that the same vehicle had been seen last October (17th, 2025) near Sylvan Lake driving at a high rate of speed with blue lights flashing. Two other motorists reported seeing it and initially believed that it was a police vehicle.
A 64-year-old man has been charged and issued a summons for a court date set for April (17th, 2026) in Red Deer and the vehicle has been seized.
Police also point out that it had a fully functional siren and PA system. RCMP say the investigation found that the Ford Crown Victoria was a decommissioned police vehicle and it had been outfitted by the suspect with police style equipment.
