Personating a peace officer charges laid against Elnora man

An Elnora man has been charged with personating a peace officer.

Mounties say an investigation resulted in an older model Ford Crown Victoria being located at a residence. According to police, it appeared to have a badge on the bumper that read ‘police interceptor’.

Three Hills RCMP not that the same vehicle had been seen last October (17th, 2025) near Sylvan Lake driving at a high rate of speed with blue lights flashing. Two other motorists reported seeing it and initially believed that it was a police vehicle.

A 64-year-old man has been charged and issued a summons for a court date set for April (17th, 2026) in Red Deer and the vehicle has been seized.

Police also point out that it had a fully functional siren and PA system. RCMP say the investigation found that the Ford Crown Victoria was a decommissioned police vehicle and it had been outfitted by the suspect with police style equipment.

Any additional complaints about this vehicle can be passed along to the Three Hills RCMP detachment or CRIMESTOPPERS.
