Colts move within 2 points of 2nd in Northern Division standings with win on Friday

The Mountain View Colts were back in action Friday night as they hosted the Red Deer Vipers in the second game of a home-and-home series that began on Wednesday.

The Colts skated away with a 7–5 win in that first meeting, and they picked up right where they left off. Mountain View jumped out to a 3–0 lead after the opening period, with Beau Van Vlaanderen scoring twice and Ryder Hammer adding another to give the home side a strong start.

Red Deer pushed back in the second. Brodie Van Riper got the Vipers on the board, and Mason Hastings scored twice to close the gap. But the Colts responded with goals from Sawyer Campbell and Connor Campion, restoring the cushion and taking a 5–3 lead into the third period.

There was no scoring in the final frame, and goaltender Kaiden Toussaint stood tall, making 46 saves to secure the victory. Mountain View finished the night 0-for-3 on the power play, while Red Deer went 2-for-7 with the man advantage.

The win moves Mountain View to within 2 points of Red Deer for 2nd in the Northern Division standings.

Next up for the Colts is a Wednesday night matchup as they welcome the Rocky Rams to Carstairs. You can catch that game live on 96.5 The Ranch.
