The Mountain View Colts skated to a convincing 4–0 victory over the Agri Risk Wheatland Kings on Friday night in a spirited matchup at the Didsbury Memorial Complex.
The game marked the Colts’ annual Ride For Dad Charity Game, and the large crowd in attendance was treated to plenty of action, both on the scoreboard and between the whistles.
Mountain View struck early, with Cole Fox opening the scoring in the first period. The Colts took control in the second as Trey Mueller and Ryder Hammer added goals to build a 3–0 lead. Blake Stoddard capped the scoring in the third period to seal the shutout win.
The intensity ramped up in the middle frame, as four fights broke out, resulting in ejections for Beau Van Vlaanderen, Connor Campion, Mueller, and Spencer McMillin. The physical play continued into the third period when Lucas Billings was shown the door following the fifth scrap of the night.
Between the pipes, Kaden Toussaint was outstanding, turning aside all 29 shots he faced to earn his first shutout as a Colt.
The win improves Mountain View’s record to 25-9 on the season and 15-3 on home ice.
Beyond the on-ice result, the night carried special meaning as the Colts raised significant funds for Ride For Dad. During a post-game presentation, the team presented a cheque for over $16,000, with additional proceeds still expected from the ongoing jersey auction.
The Colts will close out their regular-season schedule with a road game in Coaldale on Saturday night, followed by the finale in Medicine Hat on Sunday afternoon.
