An attempted armed robbery on Monday, November 17th at a business in the Town of Carstairs has resulted in a suspect being tracked down and arrested.
It happened at about 3pm and Didsbury RCMP say the female suspect demanded the employee giver her money from the register. Police note that she had entered the business with her hand in a pocket of her overcoat, alleging to possess a firearm.
According to RCMP, the “employee refused to provide the money and a struggle ensued, resulting in the suspect assaulting the employee.” Police say the suspect then took off in a vehicle.
Eventually the suspect vehicle was located by police driving southbound in Rocky View County on Dickson Stevenson Trail, north of Airdrie. Subsequently, a traffic stop was conducted and the two occupants of the vehicle were arrested without incident. RCMP officers did not discover a firearm.
A 49 year old woman from Airdrie faces charges of robbery with a firearm, plus assault. She is set to appear in court in Airdrie on November 19th.
The investigation has determined that the man driving the suspect vehicle “was not involved with or had knowledge of the robbery at the Carstairs business.” RCMP point out that charges of breaching his release order conditions are pending.
