The Mountain View Colts opened up a 4 game home stand with a split in Heritage Junior Hockey League action this past weekend.
On Friday night the Colts welcomed the Red Deer Vipers to the Didsbury Memorial Complex for the first time this season, facing off with their division rivals for the second time in 6 nights.
The Vipers bested the Colts by a score of 5-3 on November 1st.
Mountain View would find themselves down 5 goals on 2 separate occasions throughout the game and would eventually go on to fall 6-3 on home ice. Joseph Krukowski, Sawyer Campbell and Nate Smith would get the goals for the Colts in the loss.
On Saturday night, the Colts welcomed the Rocky Rams to Didsbury for the 3rd matchup of the year between the two sides. The Colts had previously defeated the Rams via a shootout on October 19th by a score of 5-4, only to fall to Rocky 9-5 on October 25th.
Mountain View seemed determined to correct their play from Friday night, starting hot with a 3 goal first period led in large part by Nate Smith’s 2 goals and a Lucas Billings tally late in the frame. Sawyer Campbell would add a goal in the 2nd period, before Teegan Mudryk and Tyler Gyori would cut into the Mountain View lead in the latter stages of the game.
That would be the only goals allowed by new Colts netminder Kaden Toussaint, who made 28 saves in his debut with Mountain View. Toussaint had previously spent 3 seasons with the Sylvan Lake Wranglers, where he was crowned 2025 HJHL Champion and HJHL MVP.
Mountain View’s home stand will continue on next weekend, with a Friday night matchup with the Cochrane Generals. Then on Saturday, the Airdrie Thunder will make the short trip up the QE2 to do battle with the Colts.
