Grizzlys beat top team in AJHL

The Olds Grizzlys went to Whitecourt and escaped with a 3-1 triumph over the Wolverines on Saturday, October 25th.

Olds snapped out of a six game losing streak by defeating team team with the most wins and points so far this season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

The Grizzlys record this season is 3-10-0, while Whitecourt is 10-3-0 to sit in first overall and first in the North Division.

Forward David Hoy (2007) from Fort St. James, B.C. had a pair of goals for Olds including an empty netter to seal the victory. Fellow forward Sean Richards (2006) from Vancouver, B.C. scored what turned out to be the game winning goal early in the third period. He also had an assist. Goaltender Connor Johnson (2006) from Calgary kicked out 39 of the 40 shots he faced as Whitecourt outshot the Grizzlys 40-24.

The Black and Gold will be back on home ice this Friday when they host the Calgary Canucks for a Halloween clash, and then Camrose will come to Town on Saturday, November 1st.
