A former Town of Olds Mayor is seeking another go around in this fall’s municipal election.
Michael Muzychka’s first four-year stint as Mayor of Olds began when he was acclaimed in 2017 and it finished in 2021. Muzychka says “I had a very good four year term, accomplished a lot of what I wanted to do but with COVID coming in, it sort of cut my term in half and I didn’t accomplish everything I wanted to do. So I wanted to take an opportunity to run this time and see if I can’t complete my goals.”
He has been an accountant off and on for the past 25 years. During his door knocking campaign, Muzychka notes that finances are one of the top five things that people are mentioning by saying that the Town of Olds needs to be very fiscally responsible. He says “another one of the top five issues that I’m hearing at the door is that the Town isn’t communicating as well as it may be able to, so I look forward to putting my finger on that. Also the relationships I have with Provincial Ministers and the Premier’s Office. I think that is really hard to replicate and it takes years to build. I did a good job of that I think in the first term and all of those guys and ladies are all still there in Edmonton just in different Ministries but the doors are still opened when I pick up the telephone which is good.”
Muzychka believes he is a very good communicator and is very well suited to be the Mayor of Olds. His website is muz4mayor.ca.
The other candidate running for Mayor in Olds is current Councillor Dan Daley and we ran a story featuring him on October 3rd.
The Town of Olds also has a total of 15 candidates running for council seats. The 2025 Municipal General Election is coming up on October 20th and more details about voter information can be found online at olds.ca.
