Current councillor Dan Daley is one of two candidates vying for the Mayor’s chair in the Town of Olds.
Daley has lived in Olds for over 30 years and has volunteered on a number of boards and committees. He has often heard the phrase “the Town of Olds always punches above its weight” and Daley notes that we need to have measures in place to allow us to continue to do that. Daley says “health care, about condition of our streets and sidewalks, our underground utilities. All of those things, we’ve got to start on them. We’ve got to plan for them and moving forward those are going to be my priorities as well as Mayor to make sure that we continue to have this community grow.” Daley lists financial restraint, working on the infrastructure, and working on housing are some of the items the Town of Olds needs to focus on.
During Nomination week (September 23rd) Daley was asked how his campaign is going so far. Daley says “I’ve got a dedicated group of people that have been helping me put signs together, getting those signs out on the street. Yeah, we are going to start going door to door and talking to people and seeing what their opinions are and what their priorities are and continue to just be out there and just listen to the public and the citizens of Olds and figure out exactly what are their priorities and moving forward where can we concentrate our efforts.” Learn more about him on this Facebook page.
The other candidate running for Mayor in Olds is former Mayor Michael Muzychka and we’ll have more on him coming up on Monday’s news. The Town of Olds also has 15 candidates running for council seats and the Olds & District Chamber of Commerce is presenting a municipal election forum next Tuesday, October 7th at 6:30pm at the Fine Arts Theatre. Doors will open at 6 o’clock.
