The Canadian Pro Rodeo Association has crowned this year’s SMS Equipment Pro Tour Finals champions.
Armstrong, B.C. hosted the Interior Provincial Exhibition and Stampede Pro Tour Finale from last Wednesday through Saturday.
First place prize money in Armstrong was $7,500 in each of the eight major events and that went a long way towards determining the Pro Tour Finals champs.
When the dust settled, Big Valley’s Zeke Thurston had an 88 and a quarter point ride in saddle bronc in Armstrong to place first and earn the SMS Equipment Pro Tour championship for 2025.
Other Pro Tour champions for this year include Tanner Milan from Three Hills in steer wrestling, Clint Laye from Cadogan in bareback, Bo Pickett from Idaho in tie down roping, Kirby Pentilla from Calgary in barrel racing, Tanner Skene from Saskatchewan in bull riding, Bradi Whiteside from Longview in breakaway roping, as well as the duo of Kash Bonnett and Logan Cullen from Ponoka in team roping. All of them finished first in Armstrong except Milan who tied for top spot with Harley Cole from Okotoks. Those two then shared the first and second place prize money.
The SMS Equipment Pro Tour included more than a dozen high-profile rodeos in Canada – that list included places like Grande Prairie, Sundre, and Ponoka.
The Canadian Pro Rodeo Association’s 2025 season will finish up with the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton in early October.
Coming up on the September 12th and 13th weekend will be two events that will count towards the 2026 season – the Hanna Indoor Pro Rodeo in Hanna and the Oldstoberfest Pro Rodeo in Olds. Tickets and more information is available online at oldstoberfest.com.
