Prost, partner! Time for another edition of the world’s only Bavarian rodeo

Warm up the oompah band because the Oldstoberfest Pro Rodeo week is here.

The big event combines western rodeo excitement with a true Bavarian celebration.

Gillian Grant with C5 Rodeo highlights the fact that new for this year will be the first ever kick off party on Thursday, September 11th. She says “we are keeping it family friendly and we are going to be hosting Weisn Night. We’ve partnered with McLaughlin Meats and The Paint Pot. We are going to be serving an Octoberfest themed meal. Tickets are only $20 and $5 from every ticket will go to support the Golden Circle of Champions.” Weisn Night is at the Cow Palace on Thursday with doors opening at 5. Then dinner and more will follow at 6 o’clock.

Grant explains more about the Golden Circle of Champions. She says “it is a really beautiful initiative. it started actually in Sacramento, California. This is the first year that we have really brought it to Canada. What it is, is an initiative that brings awareness to pediatric cancer and life threatening illnesses. It also provides support for these families and gives them experiences – once in a lifetime and, of course, we are doing that through the western way of life.” She notes that the beauty of the program is that it gives them the tools operate under the branding. She says “we are able to support local families here and provide them with help and what they need. So that is a really cool thing about it. You can do it really anywhere, and here at Oldstoberfest we are really proud to be a Golden rodeo.”

The Oldstoberfest Pro Rodeo performances go at 6pm on Friday, September 12th and Saturday, September 13th followed by concert performances both nights. Tickets are available online at Oldstoberfest.com.
