Ice up son: Exhibition action heats up for Grizzlys during Labour Day weekend

Chill out this weekend by spending a couple days at the rink with the Olds Grizzlys.

The local Alberta Junior Hockey League club is wrapping up training camp with the annual Black & Gold intra-squad game tonight (August 29th) at 7pm at the SportsComplex.

Kevin Watson, Manager of Business Operations, points out that admission this evening is a donation to the Mountain View Food Bank and the Grizzlys are going to be starting their progressive 50/50 cash draw. He says “we will make the draw at the home opener on September 20th. So hopefully we will have a big pot for somebody to win at the home opener. Merch store will be open. It is full of all new items and the concession special – we are going to have a concession special every game this year and our first one is the Grizz burger for six bucks. The Aurora Golf Grizzbar will be open as well so it is going to be a hot weekend, come in and beat the heat.”

After tonight’s Black & Gold game, the Grizzlys will head to Calgary on Saturday to start their six-game slate of AJHL exhibition games. The first home preseason tune up for Olds will be on Sunday at 5pm versus the Canucks. Tickets and more info is available online at oldsgrizzlys.ca.
