Crossfield teacher arrested, charged with multiple alleged sexual offences

An extensive investigation into multiple sexual offences has led Airdrie Rural RCMP to make an arrest.

A 47-year-old man faces eight counts of sexual assault and eight counts of sexual exploitation for alleged incidents that happened when he was a teacher at W.G. Murdoch School in Crossfield. According to Rocky View Schools, he “has been unassigned and not teaching” in one of their schools since late 2023.

Mounties note that “during the course of the investigation numerous interviews were completed and a total of eight victims were identified.”

The man, who is a resident of Airdrie, has been taken into custody pending a judicial interim release hearing.

Police believe there may be additional victims and the public is urged “to come forward with any similar type incidents” as the investigation continues. The Airdrie RCMP can be contacted at 403-945-7200 or CRIMESTOPPERS is an option as well for those who wish to remain anonymous.
