Mountain View County issues Fire Restriction, effective immediately

Mountain View County has implemented a county-wide Fire Restriction due to current and forecasted conditions.

Effective immediately, and until further notice, all outdoor fires must be extinguished and lighting any outdoor fires is prohibited. Officials say this includes open fires, fireworks, and recreational fires not contained in acceptable fire pits.

Additionally, all current fire permits and fireworks permits are cancelled, and no new permits will be issued until the restriction is lifted.

Under the restriction, “acceptable” burning barrels, fire pits, outdoor fireplaces, barbecues, household fireplaces, and AER flaring are all still permitted.
