Festive night for fans on tap as Grizzlys finish up 2024 portion of AJHL schedule

The final home game of 2024 for the Black & Gold is tonight.
The Olds Grizzlys (11-17-0-0) will face off with last season’s Alberta Junior Hockey League champions when the Calgary Canucks (17-9-1-2) come to town at 7pm.
Olds will be trying to hit the holidays on a high note after coming up empty on the Lakeland swing last weekend. The Grizzlys lost 3-1 to the Pontiacs (10-14-1-2) in Bonnyville on Friday and then they dropped an 8-5 decision to the Bobcats (16-10-1-3) in Lloydminster on Saturday. The OGs won their last home game 3-2 over Canmore (18-8-3-1) in a game that required an 11 round shootout to decide a winner on December 10th.
Kevin Watson, Manager of Business Operations for the Grizzlys, says there is a lot going on during this evening’s game including their final raffle draw, the team’s Christmas jersey auction, Whitecap Resources shoot to win, and more. It is $5 dollars per puck to participate in the chuck a puck for a chance to win a PS5 and a Nintendo Switch.
Fans are also encouraged to wear their ugly Christmas sweaters tonight.
Meanwhile, Watson invites everyone to join them on December 31st for the Olds Grizzlys Booster Club’s New Year’s Eve celebration. He says “we are going to have our New Year’s Eve party at the Pomeroy Inn & Suites ballroom. $75 each to get in. There is going to be a funny money casino. The ticket gets you a drink and a midnight lunch as well and we can ring in the New Year.”
