First place Storm hold off Grizzlys to win opener of two game set in Olds

As heard on 96.5 CKFM, the Grande Prairie Storm were able to hold off the Olds Grizzlys on Friday, November 1st at the SportsComplex.

Forward Junshi Hideshima (2005) from Edmonton broke out of a 7 game goaless drought to get the Grizzlys within one in the third period but the Storm would eventually skate away with a 5-2 victory. Hideshima began the season with goals in 3 of his first 6 games in September but he was held to just 2 assists during the month of October/the next 7 games.

Captain Connor Seeley (2005) from West Kelowna, B.C. had the other tally for Olds and that snapped him out of a 3 game personal scoreless slump.

The Grizzlys hope to get a few more key pieces of their offense going when they host a rematch with the Storm on Saturday, November 2nd at 7. 96.5 CKFM will have live coverage of all the action starting at 6:55pm.

Grande Prairie remains first overall in the Alberta Junior Hockey League this season as the Storm’s record improves to 12-1-1-and-1. Olds is now 7 and 7.

Prior to the game, 96.5 CKFM spoke with Olds Grizzlys bench boss Brad Tobin.

CKFM also had this pre-game conversation with Chris Schmidt, Head Coach of the Grande Prairie Storm.
