Grizzlys fall to Fort Mac in Friday night AJHL action

As heard on 96.5 CKFM, giving up two goals in the first four and a half minutes of the third period sunk the Olds Grizzlys chances of starting off their four game homestand with a victory.

The visiting Fort McMurray Oil Barons scored a power play goal 14 seconds into the third to break a 1-all tie and then they added another on a 2 on 1 at the 4:19 mark, en route to a 3-2 win over Olds at the SportsComplex on Friday, October 25th.

Forwards Estaban Labelle (2006) from Mirabel, Quebec and Johnathan Doucette (2006) from Boston, Massachusette tallied in a losing cause for the Grizzlys. Labelle’s goal was his second for Olds, while Doucette has 3 and all of them have come on the power play. Forward Hunter Motley (2005) from Czar picked up his first point as an OG by contributing the primary assist on Labelle’s goal. Motley now has one point in 5 games since arriving in Olds from the Whitecourt Wolverines.

The Black & Gold slip to 7-6-0 for the season, while the Oil Barons record improves to 6-7-1. Fort McMurray travels to Drayton Valley on Saturday, October 26th.

Olds is idle until Grande Prairie comes to town on Friday. The Oil Barons will be back at the SportsComplex in a couple of weeks for a clash at 2pm on Saturday, November 9th.

96.5 CKFM had this pre-game conversation with Brad Tobin, Head Coach of the Olds Grizzlys.

CKFM also collected audio before Friday’s contest from Oil Barons Bench Boss Sam Klassen.
