Four weeks into the new World Professional Chuckwagon Association season and there have been four different winners to kick off the first month of action.
Obrey Motowylo from Hoadley started the season with a win at the Grande Prairie Stompede. Logan Gorst from Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan followed as he was declared victorious at the rain shortened Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship. Chanse Vigen from Calgary has been on quite a run at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede and that continued with another trip to the winners circle. It is the third straight year Vigen has won there.
This past weekend, unfortunately, weather played a factor again. Sunday’s final performance at the Wainwright Stampede was scratched propelling Rae Croteau Jr. and his three-day aggregate time of 3:09.01 to a first place finish. Croteau Jr. was followed by Chanse Vigen (3:10.41) from Calgary, and Jamie Laboucane (3:10.86) from St. Walburg, Saskatchewan.
The top four in the driver standings so far are Chanse Vigen (586 points), Obrey Motowylo (575.5), Logan Gorst (552.5), and Rae Croteau Jr. (548.5).
The WPCA Pro Tour rolls on for a 6-day show at the Ponoka Stampede starting on Friday (June 25-July 1).
