Logan Gorst declared winner at wet Bonnyville event, Dale Young misses out on full-time WPCA tour spot

The final night of the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship was cancelled on Monday, June 8th due to inclement weather and unsafe track conditions.

Logan Gorst from Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan in his Flashpoint Electric Ltd outfit was declared the winner based on a three-day aggregate time of 3:53.68. It is the first win in Bonnyville of his career.

Chanse Vigen from Calgary (3:55.25), Darcy Flad from Bodo (3:55.40), and Rae Croteau Jr. (3:56.12) from Strathmore rounded out the top four and they would have been in the dash for cash if the weather had cooperated.

Meanwhile, the eight permit drivers vying for the four full-time 2026 WPCA Pro Tour spots had their auditions for this season cut short by Monday’s cancellation and that didn’t wind up being good news for Dale Young from Sundre. Vern Nolin (209 points), Ryan Baptiste (164), Cody Risdale (153), and Gage Flad (143) secured the four spots. Dallas Dyck (139), Young (133.5), D.J. DeSutter (90), and Phil Arcand (85) wound up on the outside looking in.

The WPCA will now move on to Medicine Hat for action from this Thursday through Sunday. Tune in to 96.5 The Ranch to listen to all of the action live all season long.
