‘Gateway to the west country’ hosting 6th annual Mountain Survivalist Competition

Sundre Winterfest is all on one day this year in the Town’s historic Riverside Area.

Among the highlights between 11am and 4pm on February 16th – Family Day Monday – is another edition of the Mountain Survivalist Competition, according to Sundre’s Economic Development Officer Jon Allan. He says “contestants in teams of two will compete against other teams in a timed event to build a fire, boil water, build a shelter, build a trap to show their survival skills as if they were out in the mountains during the wintertime.”

He says there are two people per team and this year’s prizes for the competition are a pair of Calgary Flames tickets, along with custom axes. Allan says “we’ll be accepting teams up until the last minute. We’re looking for nine teams. As soon as we hit nine teams, then we are sold out.” Sign up now at SundreWinterfest.com.
