Information session in Sundre for Health Care Aide Certificate Program on September 25

Red Deer Polytechnic’s Health Care Aide Certificate Program can help jump start a career in healthcare.

It is coming back to the Town of Sundre this winter. The full program, including the labs and practicums, will be offered through Campus Alberta Central and it is not just Sundre for residents but for residents of all of the surrounding communities as well.

Kaley Vandenberg, Resource Coordinator and Receptionist at Greenwood Neighbourhood Place, highlights the fact that a health care aide is a very rewarding profession and there is also a strong need for all kinds of health care workers. She says “especially health care aides in our rural centres like Sundre, Olds, Caroline those kind of areas. Here in Sundre the demand is especially high. We have a higher seniors population and health care aides provide daily care and connections in our hospitals, in the long-term care facilities, and community settings and we really need more people stepping into those roles.” Vandenberg notes that one of the goals for the course is to train students locally and keep them working within their community.

There is an information session about the Health Care Aide Certificate Program slated for Thursday, September 25th from 6 until 8pm at the Sundre Community Centre Boardroom. She says “that is the easiest way to get your questions answered about the program itself, bursaries that are available upon completion, or even help with your application.”

Contact Greenwood Neighbourhood Place at 403-638-1011 for more details or visit the Town of Sundre Facebook page.
