Not ice-olated for long: Snowed in senior freed thanks to Parkland RCMP

Large snowbanks were no match for a little kindness on New Year’s Eve in Spruce Grove.

Parkland RCMP say they were recently able to lend a helping hand to a senior who wasn’t able to get out of his home and to his important appointments.

With a heavy snowfall blocking the 96-year-old man’s driveway, a report was received by police on December 31st. Mounties note that calls for service were lower at the time and as a result an RCMP officer was available to stop in. He cleared the snow away thus allowing the man to safely depart from the residence.

According to police, the man “expressed his gratitude for the assistance” and Parkland RCMP are “proud to support their community members beyond traditional policing duties, especially during challenging winter conditions.”
