The Toronto Blue Jays are one win away from their first World Series title in 32 years.
Blue Jays players set a couple of records on Thursday as they beat the Dodgers 6-1 in Los Angeles to take a 3-2 lead in their best-of-seven match up.
Game 5 started with Davis Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero Junior hitting back-to-back home runs – the first time in the history of baseball’s Fall Classic that has happened.
Plus, right-handed starter Trey Yesavage broke a 76-year-old record for a rookie pitcher by striking out 12 hitters in a World Series game. Don Newcomb of the Brooklyn Dodgers who had 11 in the 1949 Fall Classic. Yesavage’s performance was an all-timer for another reason as well. It was the first time a pitcher in a World Series game has struck out a dozen batters without issuing a walk.
Game 6 is set for tomorrow night at Rogers Centre. If necessary, Toronto would also host the seventh and deciding game on Saturday evening.
