One life has been lost after a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 22.
Drayton Valley RCMP responded on Monday, October 27th just before 1pm to the incident which occurred at the intersection of Highway 621.
Mounties say preliminary examination shows that an east bound minivan “came across the intersection in front of the semi-truck, resulting in a collision.” The semi was travelling north bound on Highway 22.
A 67-year-old passenger in the minivan – a woman from Cynthia, Alberta – was declared deceased at the scene, while police add that the driver was taken to hospital with “serious, life-threatening injuries and is still in critical condition.”
Cynthia is a hamlet located about 130 kilometers east of Edmonton in Brazeau County.
