One of two Mountain View County councillors who are already back in for another term is Jennifer Lutz in Division 7 – Rural Olds.
This will be the second full-term for Lutz who points out that she just loves representing her community and doing what she can to make it the best place to live, work, and raise a family. She discusses some of the key items for Rural Olds going forward into this new term. Lutz says “one issue that has continued to pop up is servicing the Netook area and having more of an area structure plan or more of a plan for that area. People are concerned about individual wells being drilled to support business and running out of water. I think we need a good plan going forward as more development encroaches.”
Lutz mentions that Mountain View County being more transparent and putting land leases out for tender as one of the items she was proud to be a part of during her first term on council. She says “it used to be the same folks getting them over, and over, and over again, and I didn’t feel they were at market rate. So now that they are public, people can apply and there is more equal opportunity to get that good advantage to lease County lands and land is hard to come by and just representing people, trying to listen and get to know more of my neighbours and more of what matters to folks. It has been a really rewarding four years for sure.”
Lutz along with Tiffany Nixon in Division 4 – Bergen/Elkton are the two Mountain View County councillors who were re-elected by acclamation last week. There will be races in a total of five of the seven Divisions in the County as part of the 2025 Municipal Election on October 20th.
