Fatal canoe incident on Barrier Lake claims at least one life

Three Calgary residents were involved in capsized canoe incident this weekend.

Cochrane RCMP say it happened at about 6:30pm on Saturday on Barrier Lake, Kananaskis.

Tragically, a 60-year-old man was located deceased.

The other two occupants were a 56-year-old woman who police say was “located and transported to hospital with hypothermia” and a 30-year-old man who remains missing.

The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team was set to commence a search for the missing man today and as a result the public was being urged to avoid the area so crews can safely look for him.
